Celebrating Love, Music & Inspiring Journeys – February 2025 Update

Life at Island Healthcare is always full of special moments.

Here’s a look at what’s been happening across our care homes this February.

Valentine’s Celebrations

We made sure Valentine’s Day was celebrated in style.

At Northbrooke House, residents and staff took the opportunity to share what the day means to them with heartfelt messages. Over at Tile House, couples enjoyed a charming high tea—a relaxed and delightful way to spend an afternoon together. These celebrations remind us that love and care are at the heart of everything we do.

Animal Encounters at Tile House

At Tile House, residents had a very special treat. Thanks to IOW Rare Breeds, they met Jingle and Jangle—a pair of three-month-old sheep whose gentle presence brought a lovely touch of nature to our day. Moments like these highlight the simple joys that brighten our lives.

A Musical Afternoon at Hazel Lodge

Our day at Hazel Lodge was made extra special by the engaging performance of entertainer Maurice Kachuk. His music had residents singing along to familiar tunes, creating a relaxed and uplifting atmosphere that truly captured the spirit of community here at Island Healthcare.

Engaging with music can reduce stress and boost cognitive function. Research shows that music therapy not only lifts moods but also promotes overall wellbeing. Learn more about music therapy here.

Staff Spotlight: Limon Zubayed

In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week (10th–16th February), we’re proud to shine a light on our own Limon Zubayed. Originally from Bangladesh, Limon began his journey with us as a Health Care Assistant at Westview House and has progressed to Deputy Manager. His inspiring story—recently featured in both On the Wight and Island Echo—reminds us that even the smallest acts of care can have a profound impact.
