Bringing People Together Through Food, Laughter & Community – end of March 2025 Update
As April arrives, we’ve been reflecting on the simple joys (and delicious foods) that have brought everyone together over the last few weeks.
Here’s a quick look at the Spring time cooking that’s been happening across our homes.
Pancakes at Highfield House
Shrove Tuesday was a treat at Highfield House. The smell of fresh pancakes filled the dining room as residents and staff enjoyed a relaxed morning flipping, topping, and tasting. Lemon and sugar were the classics, of course, but there was plenty of fun trying out chocolate spread and other sweet options. It was a nice, easy-going way to spend time together and share a few laughs.
Crispy Cake Creations at Northbrooke House
This month, the residents at Northbrooke House got stuck into a bit of nostalgic baking as they crafted their very own crispy cakes. With bowls of chocolate-coated puffed rice at the ready, everyone took turns stirring, spooning, and shaping their treats.
The Joy of Cooking Together
Cooking isn't just about making meals; it's a wonderful way to boost emotional well-being and strengthen social bonds.
Did you know engaging in meal preparation can enhance self-esteem, provide a sense of accomplishment, and encourage mindfulness? For more insights into how cooking can positively impact mental health, have a look at this article: Mental Health Benefits of Cooking Your Own Food.
Thanks to Our Brilliant Team
Behind all of these lovely moments is a fantastic group of people. Our staff put so much thought and care into everything they do, whether it’s organising activities, making sure everyone feels welcome, or simply taking a few minutes to have a chat. It’s the little things they do each day that keep our homes feeling like home.
Looking for care?
If you or someone you know needs care, we currently have spaces available at Hazel Lodge and Northbrooke House. Don’t hesitate to get in touch—we’d be happy to have a chat and see how we can help.
