Celebrating Dedication and Exceptional Care at Island Healthcare (October 2024 update)

At Island Healthcare, we are committed to providing compassionate, person-centred care across all our homes on the Isle of Wight. Our success stems from the dedication and hard work of our incredible team. We’re excited to share some recent highlights that demonstrate what Island Healthcare is all about.

Teresa Hope Reaches Finals in Prestigious Care Awards (being held 15th Nov)

We are incredibly proud to announce that Teresa Hope, Registered Manager at Highfield House, has been named a finalist for the Registered Manager of the Year award at the Great British Care Awards. This prestigious nomination is a reflection of Teresa’s outstanding leadership and her deep commitment to caring for individuals with complex dementia needs.

Teresa has been an integral part of Highfield House, leading a team that consistently goes above and beyond to provide exceptional care. Under her guidance, the home has built a reputation for offering a nurturing, supportive environment that allows clients to live with dignity and respect. The awards ceremony will take place on 15th November at the Hilton Metropole in Brighton, where care professionals from across the UK will gather to celebrate the very best in the industry.

We are all rooting for Teresa and wishing her the very best of luck!

Team Highlights at Tile House

At Tile House, we’re putting the spotlight on Rebecca West, a long-standing member of our team whose dedication knows no bounds. Becky has been with us for several years and has become a beloved figure at the home. Her versatility and willingness to help in various roles, whether as a chef, care assistant, or even a kitchen porter, make her an invaluable asset.

But what makes Becky truly special is the way she connects with our clients. Her warm sense of humour brings joy to everyone around her, and her compassion ensures that our clients feel supported and valued. Becky has even taken on the role of supporting clients on sailing trips with Cowes Sailability, helping them enjoy enriching activities outside of the home.

We’re also proud to recognise Susan, who joined our team last year as a domestic worker. Recently, Susan has taken on additional responsibilities by supporting domestic calls in the community, where she has received glowing feedback from clients for her friendly and approachable manner. Susan’s flexibility and dedication embody the values we hold dear at Island Healthcare.

Creating Special Moments at Brighstone Grange

At Brighstone Grange, we believe in going the extra mile to create meaningful experiences for our clients. Recently, Lesley, a member of our team, organised a special outing for John and Jo, two of our residents who wanted to visit The Longstone at Mottistone.

While the site posed some accessibility challenges, Lesley worked with the National Trust to arrange special permission for John and Jo to drive closer to the location, making the visit much more manageable. This thoughtful gesture turned a simple trip into a truly memorable experience, and we couldn’t be more proud of the care and attention that Lesley showed in making this day special.

At Island Healthcare, we are constantly inspired by the dedication and compassion of our staff. It’s their hard work that allows us to deliver the highest standard of care, ensuring our clients feel supported, valued, and respected every day.

We look forward to sharing more stories from our homes in the coming months! And, of course, get in touch if you would like to learn more about our services!
