Spooky Celebrations and Warm Community at Island Healthcare Homes (November 2024 Update)
At Island Healthcare, November brought both celebrations and a chance to showcase the special life we offer across our care homes.
From Halloween fun to our ongoing commitment to compassionate care, here’s a glimpse into the vibrant community we create for our residents.
Halloween Festivities Across Our Homes 🎃
This Halloween, Island Healthcare turned into a hub of joy, music, and festive frights for our residents and staff. We transformed several of our homes into Halloween party zones where everyone could enjoy a day filled with laughter, music, and camaraderie. Here’s how we celebrated across our locations:
Tile House: Residents at Tile House enjoyed a lively Halloween afternoon with music by Dave Haydon, who had everyone singing and dancing. The celebration wrapped up with a delicious Halloween-themed buffet, ensuring everyone left with full hearts and happy memories.
Hazel Lodge: Over at Hazel Lodge, the Halloween fun continued with a live saxophone performance that filled the space with warm, jazzy tunes. Apple bobbing brought laughs, and residents, families, and staff joined in, creating a truly memorable day.
Brighstone Grange: Brighstone Grange hosted a cozy Halloween tea party. With musical entertainment and Halloween-themed activities, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as residents enjoyed a festive afternoon with friends and staff.
We extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Halloween a delightful experience for our residents. From costumes to treats, these events highlighted the special bond between our staff, residents, and their families.
Celebrating Dedication in Care: The Story of Daisy Richards
Inspiring stories of dedication continue to emerge from the care sector. Daisy Richards, an 84-year-old nurse from Llangefni, Anglesey, is one such example. Having qualified in 1958, she still works full-time at a dementia care home, where she cares for individuals younger than herself. Nominated for an Outstanding Service Award at the Wales Care Awards, Daisy exemplifies the commitment to excellence in care, holding her team to the highest standards in every detail of service.
As Daisy said, “It is their home, and we are there to help them,” a philosophy that aligns with our mission at Island Healthcare.
Her dedication serves as a benchmark, showing how compassionate care can truly enhance residents' quality of life (BBC article link).
A Closer Look at Life at Hazel Lodge 🌼
Hazel Lodge, one of our six Island Healthcare homes, is a place where compassionate care meets a true sense of community. We recently created a video tour to give families a peek into Hazel Lodge’s welcoming spaces, the dedicated team, and the comforting environment that defines life here. (Scroll down to take a look!)
We have been getting some glowing reviews on carehome.co.uk. Check them out for yourself.
Here are some common themes we noticed when it comes to what makes Hazel Lodge a special place for our residents:
Feels Like Family: Our residents and their families often say that Hazel Lodge feels like an extension of home, where each person is treated with warmth, kindness, and a familiar touch.
Comfort and Dignity: Care at Hazel Lodge is built on respecting each resident’s dignity and comfort. We provide personalized support that fosters a comforting environment for each stage of life.
Inviting Spaces: Hazel Lodge is more than a care home—it’s a vibrant community. With beautiful gardens, cozy lounges, and regular activities (including live music!), we create a setting where residents feel truly at home.
If you’re considering a supportive, family-like environment for a loved one, Hazel Lodge may be the perfect fit. Currently, we have a few beds available and welcome you to come for an in-person tour to experience the warm, welcoming atmosphere firsthand.
We look forward to sharing more stories from our homes in the coming months! And, of course, get in touch if you would like to learn more about our services!
